May 20, 2026, United Kingdom — New findings highlighted by the Bevan Commission suggest wearable safety devices could play an increasingly important role in helping older people and those living with dementia remain independent for longer.
The project, titled “Worn To Protect – Empowering Frail Lives with Wearable Tech,” explored how personal alarm watches may improve safety, reassurance, and quality of life for vulnerable individuals across Wales. Researchers found that wearable devices offering features such as real-time location tracking, fall alerts, SOS calling, and carer notifications helped support independence whilst reducing anxiety for family members and carers.

According to the Bevan Commission project, relatives caring for loved ones with dementia reported greater peace of mind when using wearable safety technology, particularly when balancing work commitments or living further away. The study also found that real-time monitoring and emergency alerts allowed many users to continue daily routines more safely whilst helping reduce risks associated with wandering or delayed emergency response.
The project additionally highlighted the importance of reliable connectivity, simple setup, and ongoing support from carers and clinicians to encourage successful long-term use of wearable safety devices. Researchers noted that technology acceptance varied depending on cognitive ability, anxiety levels, and available support systems.

“As families look for ways to support ageing loved ones without taking away their independence, wearable safety technology is becoming an increasingly valuable tool,” said Chelsea Davies, COO of CPR Global Tech. “The findings highlighted by the Bevan Commission reinforce how important simple, reliable, and easy-to-use safety solutions can be for both users and their families.”
CPR Global Tech, the company behind the CPR Guardian range of personal safety devices, offers wearable emergency alert watches designed to support older people and vulnerable individuals through features such as SOS calling, fall detection, GPS location tracking, and two-way communication.
